A while ago, I've introduced an interactive gallery sponsored by HSBC. As I've mentioned, I really appreciate big corporate's investment into online educational resources because the the cost of website maintenance is high and non-profitable educational institutes may not be able to bear it.
Today, I'd like to introduce a site called Panwapa. (A word from an African language meaning "here on this earth.") Panwapa island is a fictional island where everything from this site takes place. Here is their theme song:
When you click into Panwapa, the characters look familiar because it is created by the people behind Sesame Street in partnership with the Merrill Lynch Foundation. It's not just a game site but an educational site with strong research back-up to it.
Quoting from it's Educadtional Framwork, Panwapa's purpose is to "inspire and empower a new generation of children, age 4 to 7, to be responsible global citizens. Research materials come in a range of media platforms, including online, video and prints." This is the only website that I've come across with such vision. It also provides teachers and caregivers enough support to guide children through the a multicultural experience.
As far as security is concerned, apparently, no email address is needed for registration. Children only need to enter a password and the site would assign them a name according to the country in which they reside.
There is a wide range of interactive activities for children. Although I'm a huge fan of Sesame street (since I was young, I find the characters very dirty....=p), I highly recommend this site!
Feel free to use my account below to explore the site before you register:

(The only down side about this site I found was that it takes a bit long to load and some computers may need to install extra softwares to view the content)
